When you have selected a category you can preview the full size of the pictures for the posty or send the posty without previewing it first.
Back To Help Index

Previewing A Picture
To preview a picture just click on it.  This small image is called a "thumbnail".  The full sized image will open in the same browser window.  After previewing the picture you will need to click  your "back" button to be returned to the page you just came from to continue previewing pictures.

Once you have decided on the picture you wish to send, you will need to select the picture by pushing the circular button that is underneath each picture.  Each picture is numbered 1,2,3 and so on.  When you press this circular button it depresses and is filled with another smaller circle.  This is how you can tell you have selected it.

Selecting A Poem Or Quote
Browse through the titles in the scroll-down list.  When you find a poem you would like to read, you may preview your selection by clicking on the text that says "To Preview Poem or Quote CLICK HERE" Please be sure to click on "CLICK HERE" to be taken to the PVP's Poetry/Quote Pre-View Page.

The PVP's Poetry/Quote Pre-View page lists all of the selections I  have.

Please note that depending on the type of poem or quote, not all of them will be available for each category. Poem/Quote selection are placed dependant on the theme of the posty category.

In order to return to the category page you were on, you will need to use your "back" button to return.  If you use the link to take you back to PVP's Main Page, you will loose all of your selections and have to re-do your posty.

Addressing Your Posty
You MUST enter your recipient's e-mail address correctly in order for your posty to be delivered. Typo's happen all the time.  This is the number one reason why posty's are not received.  Even if you re-read your posty several times, if your eyes are like mine, they don't notice the mistake and see the email address just as it should be.  Thank goodness the address book can prevent this common error and is there for your convenience :).

Using The Address Book
To use the address book:

1. Click on the address book button to create your address book or to log in if you've already created one.

2. To create your address book - Fill in the information requested - name, user I.D., password etc. Please follow the instructions step by step to add contacts to your book.

Note: You will need to have your "cookies" enabled on your browser in order for the "remember username and password" feature to function.

3. Once you've created your address book you can then add your friends' and family's e-mail addresses which will be permanently stored to be used each time you return to PVP's.

Adding Your Personal Message
The BIG box towards the end of the category page is where you type your personal message to your friend or loved one. Don't worry about a space limit. Your message can be as long or short as you like.  It is here that users who are familiar with HTML can further enhance their message.

Previewing Your Posty
After you have made all of  your selections to personalize your posty you may choose to "Preview" or "Send Without Preview".  The "Preview" feature is already selected as a precaution to keep you from accidentally sending when you wanted to preview.

Please Note: Make a copy of your message....see following topic

Editing (changing) Your Posty
To make changes - Click the "Edit More" button on the preview page to go back and make changes until you are satisfied with the posty you want to send.

Sometimes when you go to preview the posty and select the "edit more" button or just click your  "back" button all of your selections (i.e. email address, headings, message). are lost. I hear about this sometimes. Please see below on why this happens

When you click the "edit more" button, whatever browser you are using is "instructed" (by the coding for the button) to "go back" to the previous page (the one where you created the posty).  If your browser is set to check for a "newer" version of the page then it's going to "reload" the previous page and "erase" all of your selections. Most browsers will keep a "copy" of the page in it's cache or "memory" (the one with the selections you just made). But your browser's settings will determine that.

Please follow the below instructions on how to change Internet Explorer or Netscape:

Internet Explorer

Go to "tools", then "internet options", then "general".

   You will see these selections:
     - Check for newer versions of stored pages:
     - Every visit to the page
     - Every time you start Internet Explorer
     - Automatically
     - Never

For the "edit more" feature to work - check the last one "Never".

If you are like me, you have this set to check for newer page versions.  I do this instead of the above because I want my browser to check for newer versions.

Go to "Tools", then "Internet Options" look down and you will see "Temporary Internet Files." Click on "Delete Files".

Please note, that this does not prevent your browser from checking for newer page versions in future but it does eliminate the problem for that day and perhaps several there after.  You will have to repeat this process if you do not tell your browser to Never check for newer page versions.

I have also noticed that when I do this sometimes the request to delete the temporary files locks up (it never closes-ends). I have to end the IE session but I get the result I wanted. This is just one of those IE quirks :D

Netscape

Go to "edit", then "preferences", then click the "+" next to "Advanced", then click on "cache".

Look to the right and you will see "Document in cache is compared to document on network:
    - Once per session
    - Every time
    - Never

For the "edit more" feature to work - check the first one "once per session",

Remember, you can always change these settings back to the way they were before.  But this is the only way that will help the "edit more" button to work correctly every time.

If you're using any other browser find your "options" or "settings" as above and try changing them to see if it helps.

As I suggested in the topic prior to this, make a copy of your message in the event your posty selections are erased. That way you only have to re-select a few things and you have not lost the message you took time to write.

Sending Your Posty Without Preview
Click on the word "Send" which will take you to the posty composition page. It is here that you decide when to send your postcard...See topic below
Back To Help Index

Sending "Now" or "Later"
You can send your posty immediately to arrive that same day by selecting "Now" or you can send it up to 14 days in advance by using the drop-down box and highlighting the date you wish your posty to be delivered. .

Please note: Once the posty has been sent, there is no way to retrieve it and prevent it from being delivered.
I also suggest you copy/past your ticket number(s) or write them/ it down in the event your recipient does not receive the posty when you scheduled it....see topic below                                                                                Back To Help Index

My Recipient Hasn't Received Their Posty Yet, Why?

Reasons could be numerous, but most common ones are:

1. Recipient's mail server could have been down. It happens with all from time to time.

2. Recipient uses e-mail account with storage limit and at the time you sent your posty their mailbox was full. It happens often with AOL, WebTV network as well as other free mail services.

3. Spam filter.

4. Mistyped email address. You typed something that looked to you (and the system) as a valid address, but it wasn't. You may have misspelled the username, domain name or both.

Can I Re-Send My Posty?                                                                                                                                                                                                      Theoretically no.  However, if you have made note of your "ticket number" and the posty is still "active" (posty's are only stored in the data base for 21 days then automatically deleted) then you can access your posty and send the URL to your recipient.  Its not the same as receiving an 'official' notification but it does work.  This also works well if you want to send your posty to multiple recipients without having to go back and re-enter each email address.

If you have not made note of your ticket number, then there is no way of re-sending the special posty you created :(  You will have to create a new posty.                                                                                                         Back To Help Index
