All Day Cookies

I admit it; I am a true cookie monster.  So much so, that this is a nickname people use when they see me around or with a cookie.  I just adore the things! :D

I made this recipe for the first time last year and I have to say that this is one of the bestest tasting cookies I have ever had or made.

********

Ingredients/Instructions

2 cups sugar

1 cup Crisco shortening

1/2 cup sour milk, buttermilk, or sour cream (I used organic buttermilk)

2 eggs beaten

2 teaspoons baking soda

2 teaspoons cream of tarter (this is what gives these cookies such an awesome flavor)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon salt

5 cups flour

1 bag Hersey's Kisses

Mix all ingredients together.  Form dough into four ropes and refrigerate overnight (I covered mine in foil).

Slice rope into 1/2-inch cookies.  Sprinkle each cookie (I actually made little balls and pressed each side into the red/green sugar I had mixed together).

Bake at 350 degrees for 5 to 7 minutes.  Press a Hersey Kiss into middle of each cookie after it has cooled a bit.  Otherwise it will melt. Makes 6 to 8 dozen.
